What is Helping Hands for the Disabled of NYC?
We are an organization of disabled people helping disabled people. We believe that disabled people should have the right to control their own lives, even if at times we need assistance.
Helping Hands for the Disabled of NYC is an Action Organization that solves real needs for real people. People do not get lost in this organization. If a person needs food, we get them food! If a person needs to go to a doctor, we get them to a doctor!
Here are a few examples of member needs
that our volunteers regularly meet:
• We help disabled members to move from shelters or nursing homes into other accommodations
• We help people to get clothing, or to choose shoes, or to shop
• We take people to the doctor or accompany them on their way to or from surgery
• If a member goes to the hospital,
HHDNYC will care for, or board their service animal
The HHDNYC Food Pantry HHDNYC serves disabled adults by delivering emergency food
and other supplies to members from our
Food Pantry.
Members are encouraged to pick up food, but when that is not possible, it will be delivered to them.
