May:
- May 4th - Restaurant Club. We will have lunch at Bogota Bistro in Park Slope, Brooklyn from 2:00 to 4:30. The address is 141 5th Avenue, Brooklyn NY 11217. They will be serving weekend brunch and lunch. You will pay for your own meal & $5 for the volunteers. Here is a link to the menu.
- May 11th - Ice Cream Social at Jahn’s. Let's indulge in some sweet treats at Jahn’s in Jackson Heights, Queens for an Ice Cream Social! Located at 8104 37th Ave, Jackson Heights, NY, this charming and wheelchair-accessible venue offers a delectable selection of ice cream flavors to satisfy your taste buds, along with standard diner food. We will be meeting there from 2pm to 5pm. Join us for an afternoon of laughter, conversation, and, of course, ice cream!
- May 18th - Be A Friend Day. Volunteers will meet at McDonalds, 809 Avenue of the Americas, New York, NY 10001 (at the corner of 6th Ave and 28th Street) from 1:30-5pm. Members & volunteers must let Alice know by Monday, May 13th if you plan to attend or need a volunteer that week. We will also need help with food deliveries that day, so if you are available please call me at 718-606-9712. If you need to reach me the day of the event, you need to call 347-502-5126.
- We particularly need food delivery help! If you have a car or are willing to travel by transit to deliver food, please let me know.
June:
- June 1st - Restaurant Club. We will be meeting at Sugarfreak from 2:00pm to 4:30pm, a Cajun/Creole BBQ restaurant in Astoria, Queens. The address is 37-11 30th Avenue, Long Island City, NY 11103. Their brunch menu is located here. You will pay for your own meal and $5 for the volunteers.
- June 8th - BBQ in Alice’s Courtyard. We will be serving traditional BBQ foods: hamburgers, hotdogs, some salads, junk food, and desserts. $15 per person. Our home is wheelchair accessible, except the bathroom - however there is a hospital two blocks away, and there are bars to hold if you can stand. Alice's address is 3094 Crescent St., Apt #3A, Astoria NY 11102, between 30th Dr and 31st Ave

- Dues are $20 for the year and can be paid online using this link. Cash, checks, or money orders made out to Helping Hands for the Disabled of NYC can be mailed to PO Box 9174 Astoria, NY 11103. If you need help with an online payment, call us at 718-606-9712 and someone can assist you.
